On the Mountain with The Master
Jesus proclaims to the people that we are salt of the earth; light of the world; a city on a hill. A city perched on a hill not meant to be Transfiguration Sunday commemorates Jesus revealing His divine glory to Peter, James, and John on a mountain, appearing radiant with Moses and Elijah. This astounding event affirms His identity as God’s Son and foreshadows His resurrection and ultimate victory over death. It serves as a bridge from Epiphany into Lent (Ash Wednesday is the following Wednesday) and aims to strengthen our faith as we enter a time to contemplate Jesus' passion.. The light it casts is meant to shine for people to see. Is this how we would describe our witness and the light of Christ in us this New Year? Lord, shine your light in us, that those who see your light may give you glory.
