The World Might Be Saved
In the gospel for this second Sunday of Lent, we have one of the most famous and recognized verses in all of scripture; John 3:16. “For God so love the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” It is such a monumental text and speaks so much to the essence of our faith and the purpose of Christ’s coming to the world, that we sometimes overlook another incredibly significant verse: the very next one. This week, our focus rests also on the Good News of John 3:17.
